As of yesterday, the cars are still there. Dozens of them. Some look big and shiny and late-model, like you see on ESPN at bars. Others are obviously meant for… regional competition. Early-nineties vintage four-bangers with their windshields and headlights removed, roll cages welded in.
Here’s a simple rule of thumb I think the owners of these “race cars” overlooked: If I drove it in high school, you shouldn’t be driving it competitively.
Dodge Shadows were meant for doing donuts in the parking lot at Leon’s on Bryne Dr., and that’s as close to the track as they should ever get.
