Fun Factoids from the “On This Day” box at the Wikipedia Main Page:
- June 18 is Autistic Pride Day, in celebration of “neurodiversity,” a quality measured by the autistic spectrum. The autistic spectrum is a rainbow bent into an infinity sign. Because the best way to cope with what’s been diagnosed as sluggish cognitive tempo is to contemplate infinity.
- June 18 also marks the 192nd anniversary of Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. The Duke of Wellington, commander of the victorious British forces, was renowned as much for his tactical and strategic prowess as for his endearing brand of high-functioning autism. It is said that in the bloody fray of battle an aide of his accidentally spilled a bag of musket balls into the mud and Wellington calmly declared, “Three hundred and seventy-one musket balls, definitely three hundred and seventy-one.”
Now you know the good parts of the story.
